Sulfur/Mold smell in clothing. Please help! Very much appreciated?
Hello Answers community,
I'm in dire need of a solution. I'll start off with the basics of how it happened. The smell started about two years ago and at first smelled of rotten eggs (i.e sulfur). We lived in some crappy apartments. I suffered the last two years of High School and now in college, I see that people are still affected by it. I **** being a cause of someone's frustration.
The apartments we previously lived in had, I'm 100% sure, sulfuric water. The ones we now moved into have amazing, clear water and I smell much better coming out of the shower. However, the clothes have an issue. They smell great coming out, but when I'm sitting around someone I still see that it agitates them. I've tried baking soda, vinegar, etc.
I'm sorry to write the much, but does anyone have any idea as to why the smell won't leave…I know it's been washed in bad water forever, but any chance to completely remove it at all? I don't mind purchasing those special detergents that promise all smells removed, but I need some names. I've googled, but it only comes out with Odoban (or something, with no mention of sulfur/mold removal from clothing).
I feel terrible because of the smell, it's killed my confidence, and worse yet, I constantly try to stay away from a large gathering. I skipped graduation because of it, don't go to movies with my friends often, and when I went to an NBA game, it smelled horrible around me (i.e. it was me). I know this is opening up and what not, but I really could use a knowledgeable person's advice a lot! If anyone has any idea, I beg of you to help me (and my family). My friends say they don't smell anything, but after we play sports or do anything that causes us to get sweaty (helped friend move today and after smelled like rotten eggs) the smell comes at me and hard.
Thank you very much. And again, sorry about the long post, but it feels like the saying -every time- ::someone is agitated by the smell,:: -I die a little inside- fits me perfectly.

I don't know if it will work or not, but have you tried Oxi-Clean? I actually use that product to remove mold and mildew stains from my laundry. I have to soak it in a sink for a day or two with the Oxi-Clean full strength on the clothing. I never noticed a smell after that. I know your situation is different than what I stated. But I figured if Oxi-Clean can take the mildew and mold stains out, why not the smell too.

Try soaking them in vinegar water for overnight. Rinse off the vinegar water and wash using the normal laundry detergent with a dash of baking soda.
Hope this helps.
