Mold on clothes.where is it coming from?
Sorority asked:
I know I have fold mold in my house. I have found mold on my clothes in my closet. I took all the clothes out to clean and I am washing them. I brought a mold removal kit to remove the mold. After emptying the closet, I was expecting to see some kind of mold on the walls but I see nothing. Should I see mold on the walls? Where is the mold coming from? I live in the south and it is definitely humid. My closet has been closed and there is no air vent in it. I am wondering if the mold could just come from the humidity and not from mold in the walls. I am just confused about what to do next.
I am pretty sure there is not a vapor barrier under the house. I am going to have one installed asap. However, I have been in the house for almost two years without a barrier and haven't had this problem. I had problems with the AC this summer. It took a few weeks to get someone to actually show up and fix it, so the AC didn't run for two weeks or so. Now, I wonder if mold got into the duct work and vents. I can tell a difference when I run my unit now. But again, that didn't happen until a month or so ago and the unit was fixed about two months ago. I am just confused about what it could be. If the duct work has mold in it, can it be cleaned?

one thing you be able to do is check to make sure you have a plastic vapor barrier under your house. just because the closet has been closed up shouldn't warrant mold. the mold generally developes due to a moisture problem, that often is the result of no vapor barrier under the house.
