Braces removal and retainer molds question?

So, I'm finally getting my braces off after about a year and a half (or close to 2 years), and I've read other questions on here about how they remove the braces, so I'm not worried about that. But, They had me take impressions with that gunk for my retainer, i beleive, last time i was there with my braces still on.
I **** it so much.. so uncomfortable and it the dentist had to pull so hard to get it off it. I don't have to get those done again, do I?

Yes you do have to have that done

Yes, they will have to take the moulds. I know it isn't nice but it is necessary for it to fit properly.
